Iowa’s Shonn Green moves ahead of Ringer in total yards
Junior running back Shonn Green ran for 211 yards and two scores against Purdue on Saturday, and has now moved ahead of Javon Ringer on the season. Both Michigan State and Iowa have just one regular season opponent left.
Shonn Green
- Net rushing yards: 1585
- Touchdowns: 15
Javon Ringer
- Net rushing yards: 1548
- Touchdowns: 20
Ringer and Green, along with Donald Brown of Connecticut and Knowshon Moreno of Georgia, are the leading statistical rushers in the nation and frontrunners for the Doak Walker Award.
Of course, Iowa fans are adamant that Green’s season has been more impressive than Ringer’s, given his consistency and high yards per carry average. Some of them also believe that the Hawkeyes are a better choice for the Capital One Bowl, should Iowa win next weekend (finishing 5-3 in the Big Ten) and Michigan State lose (to finish 6-2).
