MSU @ Penn State set for 3:30 kickoff

There isn’t a whole lot of interesting news to pay attention to during a bye week, but Wednesday’s announcement of game times for November 22 is drawing a bit of buzz.

Michigan State and Penn State will kick off at 3:30 pm EDT, and the game will be broadcast nationally on ABC. Given the other 3:30 pm matchups being show on ABC, MSU/PSU should be the feature matchup and available to most of the country. And that’s neat because the Spartans have only had two well-televised games so far this year (at Cal, vs Ohio State).

Now, you might wonder why the game time is drawing some buzz. It turns out that Michigan @ Ohio State will take place before MSU/PSU, kicking off at noon. Assuming the Buckeyes beat Illinois on November 15th, this means that the Spartans will know whether or not they’re playing for an outright Big Ten championship when they take the field in Happy Valley.

For Spartan fans who believe in the “stars aligning”, this game time announcement represents the perfect setup for a rosy November afternoon.

For those who are more realistic, it’s nothing more than the Big Ten’s marquee November 22 matchups being slotted at different times.
